Once you have made your decision that you want to move to a new city you will probably be so excited that you want to tell everyone so that they will be excited with you. This is a good idea and a bad idea at the same time. It is a good idea because it is always awesome to share your joy with others. It is a bad idea because you may receive unexpectedly negative responses which may damper your outlook on making your move.
If you plan to tell people you can simply:
1. Casually mention it in every conversation.
2. Be upfront and tell the people who are most important to you.
Make it a point to tell people what you are planning to do. Do not ask for their permission or look for their validation that it is a good idea. Most people who are too afraid to take a risk will discourage you from doing it or will try to sabotage you.
You do not need anyone’s permission, blessing or goodbye party. You are making this decision for yourself and while it would be nice to have a cheerleading team, it is not necessary.
In reality you do not need to tell anyone what you are planning to do, but the more people who know and actually care for you, the more you can pool your resources to make the move successful.
