If you’re flying into Los Angeles Airport (LAX) there are a variety of ways to get into the city. LAX is situated 15 miles southwest of Los Angeles. If you do not have anyone to pick you up and welcome you to Los Angeles you can reach your destination by yourself. Here are a few tips for traveling from LAX to your destination in Los Angeles without renting a car.

1. Shuttle Bus – The Shuttle Bus is normally about $22 per person and will take you directly to the front door of any address in the city, within reason. If you make a reservation in advance, they will ask for your credit card information up front. You don’t have to make a reservation but it will be easier to do this because after waiting at the airport for this shuttle to arrive you will find that they will ask for passengers with reservations first.

All you have to do is give them the address and they will drop you off like a taxi. The only difference between a taxi and a shuttle bus is you will have to wait your turn to be dropped off which could take an hour or more depending on how many passengers are inside the shuttle bus.

2. Free Airport Shuttle Via the Green Line– If you want to take the scenic route and save money you can take the FREE shuttle bus service to the Metro Green Line Aviation Station. The bus will be marked with a G. Once you are at the Green Line, pay the fare to ride the train ($1.75) and take that to the Blue Line Willowbrook station and you can transfer to the Blue line to go South toward Compton, Watts and Long Beach or take the Blue line to the Red line to go to Los Angeles, Hollywood and Culver City.

3. Fly Away – The Fly Away is a shuttle bus service that provides rides to the airport and back to Union Station every half hour.  The price for each ride is $9. This is a fast and dependable way to get home from the airport. Once you reach Union station you can take a city bus to your destination or ride the Red line train to connect with other lines to get where you need to go.

4. Lyft – Lyft is an on demand ride to any destination that is facilitated by a mobile app that you have to download and sign up for in advance. You will input your credit card information and are pre qualified for on demand rides at your convenience 24 hours a day. When you open your app to book a ride from the airport a photo of the nearest driver will appear along with a photo of their car and how long it will take them to arrive. No cash is necessary because your credit card will be charged.
