Whenever life creates a space for us, it is always a good idea to attempt to fill it with what we always wanted. Many of the people I’ve met here in LA have moved here under just the same circumstances that you have. They found themselves at a loss and wondered what to do next.
However, the difference between those that prosper here and those who arrive here and have to leave because they are frustrated by what they find is, the people who prosper have something to offer Los Angeles while the people who don’t only come here to receive.
If you have absolutely no track record of taking care of yourself financially by any means necessary, LA is not the city for you to learn how to do it in. You will become homeless here when you try to do that. I have seen it many, many times.
Before you attempt to move to a new city, I suggest you learn a survival skill set that you can use in any city.
What can you do to support yourself without a 9 to 5 job? What can you do that other people need? What can you create with your hands that you can sell? How can you be of value to people your age with your situation? What do you do when you lose everything?
People who prosper in LA do so because they can answer these questions easily. Those who come here with no answers to these questions, do not last long here. Work on creating answers to these questions.
It is up to you if you want to give it a try or not. When things do not work out, and it will happen, you have to know how to navigate a loss. Take a look at my video series about moving to Los Angeles and watch as I navigate several losses and discomforts. Watch how I turn every trial into something beautiful. Once you know how to do that, you can move here and be certain you will always be okay.
